First Week

Have I really only been here a week? It seems like forever ago since I left Chicago. But since I’ve only done laundry once and haven’t needed to roast coffee yet, it must just be a week. I’m having a lot of trouble loading photos onto WordPress all of a sudden so forgive me for the text only update.

Hmmmm, without the pictures, it hardly seems worth it but here goes. So, in my first week, I fixed one fence, stabilized an outhouse from falling in it’s own hole, caught and released a vole, and drove around Cheticamp meeting all the contractors and learning what stores to go to. Not a lot, but this week (and every subsequent week) will be busier.

Saturday was my first open day and I was so restless that I felt like working. I didn’t. Instead, I finished a print, went on a hike, ground coffee, tried to upload photos onto WordPress for 2 hours, read, ate, did qi gong, and then went to town to get ice cream. Having a day off when you don’t need to do any chores or social obligations equals an incredibly long amount of time.

Alright, it’s 9:20 pm and I need to go to sleep. Pictures later, I promise.

  1. I finally got a chance to sit down and read these! Sounds like a wonderful day off. Except for the photo thing, that sounds frustrating. But I see that you got it to work. And I can’t stop thinking about your whales. So jealous.
